What Are The 10 DNA Behavior Unique Styles? A Beginner's Guide

If you've landed on this page, you might have just seen a result from a DNA Behavior assessment and have no idea what it means. That's fine. This explains it from scratch. If you're building a service on the DNA Behavior API or SDK, this is also your starting point, you'll need these basics to interpret a Natural Behavior result.

First, who is DNA Behavior and what do they measure?

DNA Behavior is a company that measures how a person naturally thinks, decides, and interacts with others. Not their mood on a given day, and not their skills, but the hard-wired patterns that stay steady throughout their life. Think of it like a personality fingerprint.

Everyone's pattern is slightly different. In fact there are trillions of possible combinations. That's far too many to be useful, so the pattern is sorted into one of 10 broad groups. These groups are called Unique Styles. Your Unique Style is the group your natural pattern falls into.

The 10 Unique Styles

Each Unique Style is a shorthand for a set of traits. Here's what each one means in plain terms:

  • Adapter: flexible and courteous, adjusts easily to whatever the situation needs.
  • Community Builder: steady and easy-going, focused on people and keeping the team together.
  • Engager: outgoing and expressive, brings energy and gets people talking.
  • Facilitator: balanced and level-headed, helps groups work smoothly together.
  • Influencer: persuasive and bold, rallies people around a vision.
  • Initiator: decisive and results-driven, takes charge and gets things moving.
  • Reflective Thinker: thoughtful and focused, likes to go deep before acting.
  • Relationship Builder: dependable and loyal, builds trust and sticks by people.
  • Strategist: structured and forward-looking, designs plans and systems.
  • Stylish Thinker: sharp and precise, produces polished, cutting-edge ideas.

How to think about your Unique Style (and what not to do)

Your Unique Style puts language around your natural behavioral patterns. It helps you understand differences, but it should never be used to box people in. Before you read too much into it, know this:

  • It measures natural, hard-wired strengths only. It says nothing about someone's mental health or personal struggles.
  • Your Unique Style doesn't change over time. It's stable.
  • No Unique Style is better or worse than another. Great leaders and top performers come from every single one.
  • Your Unique Style is neutral to gender, generation, culture, and birth order.
  • No decision should be made about someone based on their Unique Style alone.
