The Different Ways To Get Your Result: Full, Partial, And Digital Scans

There's more than one way to produce a DNA Behavior result. They differ in how long they take and how accurate they are. If you're building on the API or SDK, this matters: the same person can have a result from any of these, and you should know which one you're reading before you rely on it.

The three types

DNA Behavior groups its assessments into three categories: Full Scan, Partial Scan, and Digital Scan.

Full Scan

  • 46 questions, 10 to 12 minutes
  • 97.1% accurate
  • Use for anything, including high-stakes decisions

This is the complete assessment and the most reliable. If a decision genuinely matters (see below), this is the one to use.

Partial Scan

Two shorter versions, for lighter-touch situations:

  • 17 questions, 4 to 5 minutes, 89% accurate
  • 11 questions, 2 to 3 minutes, 80% accurate

Both are good for engaging employees and clients (employee and customer experiences) where you want a quick read. Neither should be used for high-stakes decisions. A person who takes a Partial Scan can complete the remaining questions later to upgrade to a Full Scan.

Digital Scan

  • 0 questions, available instantly
  • 70 to 75% accurate
  • Use for sales, marketing, and alignment only

The Digital Scan uses AI to produce a behavioral estimate without the person taking anything. Its accuracy depends entirely on the quality of the data it's built from, the insights are only as good as the input. Because it's an estimate, keep it to lower-stakes uses like sales and marketing.

What counts as a high-stakes decision?

High-stakes decisions are life-changing choices with long-term consequences for someone's career, finances, or relationships. Examples: hiring and career decisions, financial investments, major purchases like a home, or long-term life choices. For anything in this category, use the Full Scan. Don't base a high-stakes decision on a Partial or Digital Scan.
